Parallel Play
by All EarsWe invite you to find the magic in everyday objects by making things side-by-side. Ahead of the session, we ask everyone to bring one or more objects made from everyday materials: wood, metal, textiles, or paper. It might be an old wooden toy, a tin can, a scrap of fabric, or something you've been holding onto without quite knowing why. We'll have more materials and a selection of tools waiting for you.

We'll begin with a short talk about our practice and the methodology behind our design process; you're welcome to fidget, handle your objects, and settle in. Then we'll have some time to talk about the objects themselves: why you held onto it, or why it caught your eye. Everyone is invited to touch and look closely at each other's objects. Then, using simple pre-built structures—frames, columns, and small bases—everyone assembles their own shrine: a tribute to the object they brought, or to someone else's. Everything you make, you take home.


About All Ears
All Ears is Julia B Lubner and Jan Stawiarski, an artist duo based in Hackney, London. After meeting at the Architectural Association, both turned to art and design and founded their collaborative practice in 2024.

Their work involves two intertwined strands. In their design practice, they combine craft-intensive processes, such as fine woodworking, metalwork, and loom beading, to create functional art-objects that find magic in the everyday. In their public programme, they host workshops and events from their studio, which doubles as a DIY art space, operating under the ethos that making things together forges communities.
